This fall, believe it or not, I'm learning to speak Finnish. Not that I expect to be terribly fluent by the end of the class, but my brain is sure getting a good workout! So when I need to refill the well, I have to do something different…like leave the house. I'll go for a walk in a public garden or to an intriguing talk at the university or even something that's kind of out of my comfort zone, where I have to talk to people I don't know, like a party. Right now I'm attending a series of lectures about rock art by an eminent French archaeologist. He's incredibly knowledgeable and great at explaining things – and he's entertaining! I read constantly – it’s my lifelong addiction. So when I need to refill the well, I have to do something different…like leave the house.
